Dr. Daniel Bethencort attended the Re-Evolution Summit, a hands-on experience for cardiac surgeons all around the country to learn the latest techniques for minimally invasive cardiac surgery. The event is hosted in Houston, TX and Dr. Bethencourt was a features speaker and workshop teacher.
DeBakey Institute for Cardiovascular Education & Training (DICET) hosts the event, with partnerships with Houston Methodist Research Institute, The Houston Conference, IMICS and The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Many renown surgeons like Dr. Bethencourt come to this summit to help train other surgeons as well as physician assistants, nurses and hospital administrators to be up-to-date with cardiovascular surgery. The goal of the event is to have the attendees leave with a fundamental understanding of the differences in technique between open and minimally invasive cardiac surgery, have some applied experience and be able to describe latest research and evidence-based information on minimally invasive cardiac surgery with an emphasis on hybrid approaches (combining both open and minimally invasive techniques in one case).
Dr. Bethencourt spoke about Robotic Mitral Valve Repair on March, 4th and gave some hands-on experience to doctors and PA’s. He was the moderator for the “valves” session.
