Kristeen Derrick PA-C, recently graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine’s Physician Assistant Program and concurrently received a Masters of Medical Science degree from St. Francis University.
A Physician Assistant (PA) is a medical professional who is state-licensed to practice medicine and is nationally certified. Simply, they are extensions of a Medical Doctor. They are trained to complete comprehensive exams in evaluation of patients. They order, read, and interpret labs and imaging; they make assessments and treatment plans for patients; and are licensed to prescribed medications. Physician Assistant training takes a generalist approach encompassing various fields of medicine. Kristeen completed rotations in Inpatient Hospital Services, Cardiothoracic Surgery, ER, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Vascular Surgery, and Family Practice.
In her past life, Kristeen was a Critical Care Registered Nurse in Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Units for six years prior to enrolling in PA school. While in PA school at Stanford, she completed a rigorous Cardiothoracic Surgery rotation at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and continued to work a Staff Nurse at Stanford Hospital and Clinics in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. Her career has taken her from Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding, CA, Enloe Hospital in Chico, CA, to Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA, and now here with The Bethencourt Group in Long Beach, CA. Her experience, caring and compassionate attitude, and diligence make her a valuable asset to The Bethencourt Group.
